East Ham

Some people may look askance at my saying that, but to heck with that - apparently the stereotypes run deep. Suffice to say that when I visited friend Martin, who lived in the area for many years, I saw tons of families, lots of folks doing lots of business and felt that inexpressible sense of liveliness that permeates so much of the London area, even when the surroundings can sometimes be so grey. It would have been nice to spend even more time there, seeing how new generations - facing their own struggles and concerns, no question of it—will transform London for the good yet again, and deservedly so.
