My first Irish Local  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

This was my first local Irish watering hole- introduced to me my first night in Dublin January 2006 by E. With my temp housing just around the corner, I became a frequent patron of Hogan’s.

It’s a hipster pub and somewhat of a scene. I prefer it on weekdays; weekends are unbearable with body heat, humidity and foul smells that come with packed bars. It’s hard to move downstairs on the weekends- one time took me 10 minutes to just get from one side of the bar to the other, looking for friends.

But I still recommend it for a pint when you’re in city centre during the day or weekday nights.

Worth visiting!

Trendy George’s Street institution, with nice large windows and pleasing, sligthly aging, dark-wood and leather decor, and – above all – a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. Great location, too.

Nice mix of people, to be honest, from the chic to the students (and a lot of people droppping in from the nearby Globe pub – also worth checking out) interspersed with welcome bohos! :) Quite a young crowd, mind.

One of my fave pubs in Dublin, definitely.
