Why I recommend this place to visitors

The Toucan, an Irish bar located in the heart of downtown, is one of the greatest pubs in the city. Featuring live music on some nights (GhettoXpress plays on Mondays) the Toucan is always a rowdy place for a good night of drinking and a guaranteed crawl home.
There are two floors at the Toucan. Upstairs is the slightly quieter and more intimate Kirkpatrick’s, with lots of dark corners and ambiance. Downstairs features more of a bar atmosphere with dart boards and tvs. In the warmer months they operate a large, somewhat heated patio that spills out into a historic courtyard, shared with Chez Piggy.
The selection of beers on tap is impressive, and at last count they were serving over 20. To top it off, the bartender really knows how to poor a good Guinness.
The food is characteristically ‘pub fare’, however they offer great daily deals, and the weekend breakfast is not to be missed. Including a tip, 5 bucks will get you coffee, toast, eggs beans and fries. There are few better ways to cure a hangover and with the recent closure of the Epicure, this now reigns supreme as the ultimate bastion of breakfastness.
