Brick Lane

This is the place to go for a good curry in London. The street is lined with tons of curry houses – get a recommendation beforehand if you can, as the choice seems to be endless!

This is the centre of the London Bangladeshi community and is sometimes also referred to as “Banglatown”.

I came here as part of a checking out where my dad grew up visit to the east end about a week ago. The South Asian restaurants and shops looked awesome, and even though ethnically it has changed, in a way this part of East London is most like what it might have been back then, because there were always waves of immigrants to the East End, and this didn’t seem quite as gentrified as some of it.
