abandoned Byzantine ruin by dvarmazi
During the time of the Byzantine Empire, they constructed a series of churches and building complexes on a hillside in the south-central Peleponiso that was later abandoned to history and left open to the elements. Wandering the area, you encounter all sorts of iconography and mosaics among the ruins. I didn’t stay at night, but it was eerie enough. Hauntingly beautiful.
