Worth visiting!
Not merely because of the Easter Rebellion but in ways about how it was turned into a shrine for the Rebellion and independent Ireland. When I visited in 2003, I was struck by the fact that for all the many commemorative pictures and paintings and more, the fact was that it was still a working post office and was treated as such by folks there—simply part of the daily experience, not something to turn into veneration. And that attitude, I think, is healthy and appropriate. Apparently it’s becoming a full time museum now, but I’m not sure it should be so, really.
