Check the bathroom by Pattie A.

We’ve stayed here twice. The first time was a disaster — the staff was snippy when I asked about amenities because we paid on a package deal, and worse, our bathroom had not been completely cleaned after the last guests had left. GROSS!! And to make it worse, when we called housekeeping to complain, the manager said it was our fault that we had not inspected the bathroom when we checked in.

A couple of years later, my husband got a good rate, and over my objections, we came back, but it was a much more pleasant stay that time.

The location is great — right on top of a subway stop, and a stone’s throw from city hall.

Center City, Philadelphia by Draco

For those who don’t know, “Center City” is the local name for what all Philadelphians refer to as downtown, or the heart of the city’s buisness and tourism district. Center City is where Philadelphia’s City Hall is located and where all of the city’s high rises and skyscrapers stand. There’s lots of good shopping and restauraunts in there, and it is home to the city’s “Avenue of the Arts,” a street with a variety of theatres which showcase a variety of professional shows, music and dance.

Center City is a major regional transportation hub, with SEPTA providing numerous bus routes, all of their regional rail routes, the city sub way and the elevated train all available at that location. 30th Street Station, Philadelphia’s largest railway terminal houses Amtrak trains, New Jersy Transit, and provides SEPTA regional rail connections directly to all of Philadelphia International Airport’s terminals.

Philadelphia, as a city, expands miles beyond its square-mile Center City district, and outside of its boarders are many many suburban communities in the surrounding counties. I live about an hour outside of Philadelphia, but love the city very much. I spend a lot of time there, especially in Center City. One day I really want to live there.
