Amboseli National Park aka: Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve

Amboseli is located near the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, just barely on the Kenya side of the border. It is pretty much a full day’s drive over very bad roads from Nairobi.

I stayed at a place called Ol Tukai Lodge, located inside the park. Out the door of my cabin was a breathtaking view of Kilimanjaro. During the day the peak was usually shrouded in clouds, as ice from the glaciers turned to water vapor. During the cool of the night the moisture condensed. In the morning the early riser is treated to an unobstructed view of the peak.

It was a great place to see elephants, giraffes, lions, hyenas, zebras, and a variety of other types of wildlife.
