Prestine beaches, tourist meca, great place

I just had such a wonderful holiday in Noosa.  — 1 year ago

Gorgeous beaches, beautiful weather, excellent shopping, great bars and restaurants, stunning nature. Perfect. It’s also close enough to the Gold Coast to go to a theme park for the day. We went to Dreamworld. The Australia Zoo is also very close. Eumundi Market is in the next town and that was fantastic. We went in August and the weather was perfect (b/w 27-30C) and there weren’t as many tourists there.

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

I stayed at The Islander Noosa Resort last time I was there, and found it excellent. (I’m not affiliated with it at all, just loved the resort so much that that’s the reason I want to go back to Noosa again). Their web address is: http://www.islandernoosa.com.au/

I’ve been here 5-10 times over the last 15-20 years, and I love it but it keeps growing and growing and the more it grows, the less you want to visit.

What I love about it is: the beaches (still great!, the best ones you have to walk to through the national park so there’s less people there); the national park (only place I’ve seen koalas in the wild (twice!), great cliffs to look down at the sea and see dolphins, just wonderful walking, despite there being too many people there); the river and its pelicans; the food drool.

The problem with noosa is too many people love it and that is destroying what it is they love about it. The council early on had a lot of foresight and banned developments above a certain number of stories, which stopped it turning into the gold coast, and was a great thing. the only problem was it then spread out instead of up.

oh well, i still love it :S

my decision is made… i have to move here in six months time. i didnt really know what i was doing after the ski season- but now i do. This place is beautiful! lots of lush bush, crystal clear beaches and crazy wildlife. the people are, well…alright. i think the average resident thinks very highly of themselves, but mhhh…it doesnt take away from its natural beauty. :)

    Lovely place to visit.
Can recommend staying at the youth hostel [YHA] if you like to save your pennies. It’s at the top of the main street, only a couple of minutes away from places like the Sheraton [a popular conference venue]. I’m the type of person who just wants a room to myself to sleep in and who doesn’t mind sharing a bathroom especially if it means I can spend the money I save on accommodation costs on the local sights and eating out.
Even if you eat in at the YHA the food is very good and of course you always meet interesting people there.
The shops cater to the well-monied so bargains can be a bit hard to find.
The local walks are great. The beach when I was there was a bit tragic. They have an issue with losing the sand from the beach. Not so good if you are a sunbathing on sand beach bunny but if you are into surfing, you will have lots of company.
