During the period we spent in Izola we had stayed at a Tri Palme appartment. The Tri Palme apparments are about half an hour walk from the old town centre but to reach the beach takes only five minutes. In the nearby (about 3-4 minutes walk) there are Interspar and Merkator, and the bus station is also really very close to the quarters. The apparments are very nice, you can find more information about the rooms and prices on Tri Palme’s homapage. The hosts are kind, the man speaks German and the woman does German and English both.

Izola is on the verge of a mediterrian and Central European town by Gábor Török

Slovenia (Slovenija) has four maritime towns named Koper, Izola, Piran and Portorož. Izola is the smallest one of the fours, and the only one I have already visited. You can reach Izola (Isola) by bus or taxi. Izola has in every September a boat festival called Izola Boat Show which is a nice happening to visit.

There are a few supermarkets (Interspar, Hofer, Drogerie Markt, Merkator) in Izola, the prices are not higher than in any other town in Slovenia. In the old town (you can call it also centre) there is the tourist info where you can get a map of the city. As in the whole Slovenia the most slovenian people living here speaks German and many of them do English both. Izola is a nice place to spend your vacation here, do not expect full of advantures, but you can try many water sports and have sunbath in the 3-4 km long rocky seaside. Izola is worth visiting.

Reaching Isola is actually simple, from Koper – which you can reach by intercity and inland trains both – start a few bus services taking you there. In Isola there are three bus stations, the very first (counted from Koper) is the old town centre.

If you have a little time, you could find a taxi driver in Koper that may take you to Isola in the same price as the bus costs.
