Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park

About seven years ago, for my cousin’s 14th birthday, she, my mom, and I went to the zoo – our birthday tradition. Driving up the hill towards the parking lot, we looked out of the minivan’s windows to see an elephant running up the hill beside us behind trees lining the road. I had never seen an elephant run before and didn’t know that such a large creature could move so swiftly. When we got out from the car, the elephant and its trainer were walking around the lot and let us come over to pet it – we already made it up close to the animals before even going inside the zoo!
