Cayucos

I was born and raised in Cayucos, and 3 generations of my family still reside there. My grandparents moved there in the early 40s and never left. I can’t fully explain what it means to me, other than to say that even though I had to leave to make a life for myself, it’s the only place that will ever really be home.

One of the last old California beach towns, we have spent 2 weeks every summer for the last 8 yrs staying w/friends on 8th St. There are a few signs of progress such as once vacant lots now under construction. some old beach front homes remain though many have bee torn down to be replaced by the “money is no object crowd.” Still, all in all, the friendly people and laid back attitude still prevails and I’m always wistfull when we leave to go back to our desert home in Tucson. Skipper’s will hopefully have outside4 dining again, Andrea still has the hotspot for nightlife at the Tavern. Best veiw for sipping wine is still the upstairs at the Reef. I suggest the Hamlet for the same reason just north of Cambria. The winter in Cayucos is just as wonderful as summer as the hills are Ireland green. Enjoy
