Chowk

My first shopping forays in Lucknow in 1979, 1980, and 1982 were in the center of town: Hazratganj. A local resident suggested that I would get better prices by going to an area known as Nazirabad. I did so and had a grand adventure. Now I’m reading in 43places that Chowk is the district where the chikan embroidery is actually produced. I am planning to return to India next year after 25 years away, and am happy to have a mini-mission for my Lucknow visit.
