Fort Snelling State Park

Not many people know, but there is a beautiful Chapel located on the grounds. My parents were married there, along with mnay of our friends, and in October 2006, we were married here as well. It’s beautiful!

and saw 15 deer on Pike Island. They just looked at us as if we were the wildlife. A neat sight even as Hwy. 5 rumbled by above us.

It has a nice swimming beach, a little weedy, but not too busy even on yesterday’s 100 degree day (we did go later in the day, though . . .) The planes were loud going overhead . . .

You can walk to Minnehaha Falls, to Fort Snelling to poke around, or just around Pike Island. I’ve canoed there before, too, launching onto the Minnesota – it got rough once we hit the Mississippi.
