The Wharf, featuring that brisk, chilly Monterey breeze along with the smell of dead fish and seagull poo. If you want cream of the crop seafood, this is the place to go. Straight off the boats and onto your plate, the small, humble restaurants here are eager to serve you.
The barking of sea lions and constant complaints from seagulls will fill your ears. The views of boats, other piers, and monterey bay in general are beautiful. The setting is bustling in a small-town way. It almost feels like how Monterey originally was Decades ago.
The ice cream shop there has gone downhill but their clam chowder has not.
The Wharf is located along a bike trail I strongly recommend visitors walk/ride on. It starts from Robert’s lake (near Embassy Suites in Seaside) and goes as far as the Asilomar past Lover’s Point.
