A cab driver told me that it got its name originally from the streets orchard names, and then earned a double entendre with a concentration of homosexuals in residence. I don’t know if it still has that reputation but now, it is also said to be the hottest area to buy a house because of the affordability relative to downtown. I can attest to this, with the level of renovation activity around here this summer. I was recently told that I own the oldest home in the neighborhood -1880. I envision a community of artistic and scientific creativity flourishing here, the likes of which has been seen in Halifax in the 90s and Montreal in 00s.
