Amtrak Emergency+Wolf Point=Pleasant Surprise Stop by bklynrose713
I once took a trip on the Amtrak across country. While on the train, a woman I met had a miscarriage and had to get off at the next stop to go to a hospital. I went with her, as she was traveling alone. We stopped at Wolf Point, MT, and were promptly escorted from the train to the ER by the sole ambulance in the town. Then, once she was given the OK from the hospital, the town police escorted us (no taxi service) to the only inn in town, where we were given a free dinner and a free room for the night until the train came the next day. The people of Wolf Point were very accommodating and kind.
Wolf Point had a small casino, an inn, no taxi and plenty of small town generosity. I would love to visit again and get a pleasant dose of the local lore. But if you ever happen to have an emergency, this is one of the best places to have it.
