Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències aka: City of Arts and Sciences,Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

Can you imagine London without the Thames or Paris without the Seine? Valencia rerouted its river after severe flooding so there’s now a dry valley crossed by numerous bridges. I won’t pretend I like that but they have certainly made fabulous use of the ex-river bed.
Much of it has been used for ornamental gardens and sports fields. More recently it’s said that the desire to equal barcelona on the tourist map has led to the building of La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
I gazed at the Oceanografico. I’d resolved not to go in as it’s by no means cheap. My resolution lasted all of twenty seconds. Four and a half hours later I left, having looked at a phenomenal exhibition of marine life, a top class dolphin show and some mind-bending architecture – and I don’t regret one euro cent of the entrance price!
