But I’ll add that it’s actually also a functioning gallery, in that pieces are for sale as desired, and apparently rotated as well. Which I found very interesting since so many of the pieces seemed specifically designed for certain spots in the park! So it’s probably a combination of permanent and rotating pieces—either way, the net effect is quite striking.

Why I recommend this place to visitors
Sculpture Park, adjacent to Roche Harbor, is one of the most unique ways to present sculptures—which is in a land reserve where the art is hidden within the reserve, as opposed to in a room. Obviously the sculptures have to be able to weather the elements throughout the years. It’s best seen in the warmer parts of the shoulder seasons and/or summer.
It’s nice to way to escape and see art at the same time, whereas traditionally the two experiences have always been separated. Sculpture Park also provides a way to see art in a different way depending on the time of day and/or weather. As you’ll (hopefully) see from some sample photos, you can imagine the possibilities of how the art pieces can present themselves given all these factors. I thought this was certainly a novel approach to curating a “museum”, and though it should be venerated accordingly. :)
