Very interesting park/museum. The restored/rebuilt/replicated farm and village buildings are fascinating, especially when they are furnished with period items and have Skansen employees in period costume in the buildings operating the items or explaining the history.

The animal exhibits are also nicely done. The the area is a nice park like setting with some nice views of Stockholm!

Skansen is an open air museum which showcases the changing way of life in Sweden throughout the ages. There are replicas of historical Swedish houses throughout the site. I had never been to a museum quite like it before!

I've been working here since 1975 by LaviniaFontana

I started as a teenager – worked with the horses.

Then – 10 years later, I started to work as a guide – in the old houses.

And I love my job.

Come to Skansen and I will tell you something interesting about the Swedish history – and you can tell me something about your country.
