Worth visiting!

Courtland Place is a small neighborhood betweeen Mt. Baker and Genesee/Columbia City. It consists of a few blocks north and east of the Safeway and Darigold on Rainier Avenue South and is exclusively residential, although if one considers its western boundry as Rainier, there are a lot of commerical businesses in the Genessee Business District.
As with a lot of Seattle, there is a lot of new building going on. SouthEast Effective Development recently finished two big multiuse developments along Rainier… the Dakota for families and Courtland Place for seniors. At some point they will probably develop the land behind these two buildings, although I do not know if they have acquired all the parcels.
Random neighborhood thoughts… It is close to a lot of bus lines. It will be close to the light rail once it is done, although it will be between the Columbia City and Mt. Baker stops. One can walk to a grocery store (the aforementioned Safeway), walk to Columbia City with all of its businesses, walk to Lake Washington, walk to Mt. Baker (ok, I do a lot of walking). The International District and Downtown are very close (not close enough to really walk unless you want to make an expedition of it… easier to take the bus), and it is easy to get on the major roads.
