My boyfriend and I went here with his re-enactment society (Conquest) and had a great time re-enactingthe battle of Hastings in 2006!!!

Major Battle of Hastings reenactment on October 14th and 15th 2006!
More than 2,000 warriors on the field and horses will reenact the famous battle. The event is organised by The Vikings reenactment society and English Heritage.

Now THIS is more like it. Forget Hastings. The history of 1066 belongs to the town of Battle, not bl**dy Hastings! It’s a lovely little market town with quaint shops and the most amazing looking AND truly historic Abbey. It’s near the site where the REAL BATTLE of 1066 took place. A must for the historian, or anyone interested in the history of 1066. Or anyone who likes pretty, historic market towns :-)
