Robert Mueller Municipal Airport

Very sketchy at night. Open access to the airport. Able to drive on the old runways, etc

The new Austin airport is much better and presents a great face to the world…but it’d be great if they did something with the more centrally located Mueller real estate.

This was Austin’s airport before Bergstrom AFB was closed and turned into the new airport. I loved Mueller airport. It was small and Southwest Airlines had its own segregated terminal at the east end of the building.

There has been talk since 1997 about turning the property into an “urban village” with a little town square, shopping, restaurants, and apartments above the shops. It sounds really neat, but progress seems slow.
