I haven’t bothered to verify it, but our tour guide told us that the ice destroys these decks every year and they have to be rebuilt at the beginning of each season.

The decks below horseshoe falls on the Canadian have an even more impressive view, but they don’t get you nearly as close.

The basic gist of this place is that you get to see Niagara Falls from behind the falls. That part is OK, but I thought the more interesting part was seeing the falls standing very close to the foot of the falls, looking up on them. You can actually see them from much closer here than on the Maid of the Mist. Plus, they give you a little headset that you can listen to in informative program on the falls. And if you get bored listening to it in your native language, turn it to one of the other channels and start learning a new language.
