Love It!
Went in June and spent most of the afternoon there just hanging out, drinking beer, eating. Then in November went back and actually got to stay overnight. Very cool, very quirky room. A little disappointed that the bathroom had just a shower stall and not claw foot tub. Overall had a great time. Hung out in the little red shed very warm very cozy. Walked the grounds, visited bars/wine tasting room. Thankfully the whole experience was relaxed and fun…which made up for the fruit flies in the room that were doing swan dives into my pint!! But I am sure that was an aberration. Next time heading for the spa!

A review of this place: Pub Crawl without ever leaving the grounds!
Another great McMenamin’s place, Edgefield boasts a winery, distillery AND brewery on it’s grounds. A former poor house and senior home, the place is chuck-full of tiny pubs and bars to explore, as well as a 9-hole golf course, and great gardens. If you feel the need to leave the secluded atmosphere of Edgefield, it’s about 20 minutes east of Portland, and near the Columbia River Gorge.
I strongly suggest you visit their website to see what kinds of rooms are available, as they sell out early, and only a handful of them actually have baths in the rooms. The rest are European style, with community baths (nicely appointed, too) down the hall. A must to check out is the Icehouse, with the Grateful Dead theme and 4 tiny tables and fully stocked bar. Also check out the movie selection at the Power Station, as you can take your beer and dinner into the theater and watch, eat and drink to your heart’s content!

The last time I went to this place
I was there for my cousin, Maureen’s wedding. I think that was the last time.

A review of this place: Wonderful Hotel
I absolutely love McMenamins Edgefield. You can roam around the acres of gardens, play pub course golf, have a few good pints of beer and then walk upstairs and take a nap.. All the bars are charming and the food is great. The hotel it self is quaint and very inviting, as long as sharing a bathroom doesn’t bother you.
