The last time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I loved this place the first time I went here on a September summer Saturday night. But now they charge a cover and there was a line. Eh! The music wasn’t as great the first time around. The people not so much either. Bring back the old Havana of my first memories!

The last time I went to this place  — 2 years ago

I checked out Havana last night and…eh, I dunno. I like the LOOK of the place and I love the design of all their materials/menus/postcards/web site but the crowd was kind of weird. Not really my people. The bartender was really slow to serve us, although the waitress at our table was a little better. I could not find any kind of menu besides their wine list so I don’t know if they have any specialty cocktails nor do I know what is on their alleged cheese plate, or if such a plate exists. And the layout of the bar feels a bit off to me—it’s so big and there’s so much open space. I do like the upstairs area, it’s a bit more cozy. It will be interesting to see this place evolve a bit. I want to come back for happy hour sometime as Erik says it is a lot different during the day.

Worth visiting!

This place just opened today. A few of us snuck in around 4:30 and we were our waitress’s first customers. First impressions: quite favorable.

  • Happy hour had $2 pilsners in nice tall glasses
  • Interesting upstairs, interesting entrance (from a parking lot)
  • Granada blue bathrooms and entry hallway
  • Big windows
  • Nice booths
  • High ceilings

It’ll be interesting to see which demographic this place attracts. In the short time we were there, the Gary Manuel girls took a booth, then us nerds, and some businessy plaid-shirts-tucked-into slacks guys came in. It’s right in the best part of Capitol Hill, and only 1.5 blocks from our office, so we’ll definitely be back to watch the narrative unfold.

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

The entrance is in the parking lot across from Vita on 10th and Pike. This should save your a block of walking and wondering how to get in.

A review of this place: Casual Swank  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Yet another place opened on Capitol Hill this week. I went on opening night, large crowd but this is what i gather from the 45 minutes I was there.

Casual Swank

The dance floor is amazing. Add the right music/DJ I will never leave it. With a name like Havannah I am sure they’ll have some amazing dance nights. And hopefully they’ll keep the floor even after last call.

I’ll be there with my shiny shoes on again soon!
