Kapaa aka: Kapaa, Kapa'a

If you visit Kauai, better to avoid the Coconut coast between Kapa’a and Lihue. Too many taquerias, tattoo parlors and knick-knack stores. Stay in Waimea on the Leeward side instead; it’s a nice little beach town with a laid-back vibe and it’s at the turn-off to Waimea Canyon.

I went Kapa’a on my honeymoon. One of my favorite memories was having breakfast at a place called the Ono Family Restaurant near our timeshare. My wife and I had macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup a couple of times for breakfast. We used to have that for breakfast every year on our anniversary. I guess it is time to start up that tradition again.
