kohala is pretty much the oldest part of the island. the dirt is fine and brown and its grassy, super windy, awesome mountains to drive through and lots of it looks like parts of the mainland. not so much the palmtree look. there’s more evergreen looking trees and stuff. it’s very pretty. and because it’s so windy, all the trees lean to one side. it’s funny. and from kohala you can see maui just across the ocean. there’s this trade wind thing that happens because of the channel between the big island and maui. even though its intense, without the winds, it gets pretty damn hot and what makes it worse is the vog which usually stays in parts of kona. but without the wind, the vog finds itself in kohala. but it’s a beautiful small town sorta place. i love kohala. although i am allergic to kohala. hahaha… but i reccommend to pass through. it’s a totally different landscape and feel, so it’s nice.
