News about this place
I am VERY SAD to report that Stonefridge is no more. Yesterday, we thought we were so clever, driving Poet Nephew out to this remote field with no explanation, hoping to blow him away with this piece of installation art (uh, craft?). BUT … it wasn’t there. Since the field abuts the Transfer Station (which is to say, city dump), we pulled up to the office there to inquire. The friendly staff lamented that just one month ago, the city deemed Stonefridge a nuisance: winds had toppled some of the units and graffitti artists (craftists?) had defaced them. Therefore, the assemblage was dismantled. The end. I ask you, How much more whimsy can This Planet afford to lose?

The first time I went to this place
I can’t believe I’ve lived in santa fe for over two years and it took me that long to visit this place! My roommate and I took an adventure weekend, and shot a bunch of funny pictures.

I still like the name Fridgehenge...
It’s in a beautiful location. My camera broke, so I didn’t take any pictures today. There was a couple flying a kite there and 3 people sitting on part of the monument. Or fridgeument. Or applianceument. Amazing clouds today. Everything’s green and the sky is rich in blues, whites and greys. Really a stellar day.

The last time I went to this place
It may look like Stonehenge, but those stones are old refrigerators. And why not? It may not be as awe-inspiring as the original, but the kitsch value alone is worth a detour if you’re in Santa Fe.
