Majdanek

On a journey about the Holocaust, this was one of the most harrowing of sites. It is the most well preserved of all the camps residing just outside of Lublin. The first building is the gas chamber and the last is the crematorium. It’s a very raw experience and less visited than Aushwitz. There is a monument containing the found ashes of those who died in the camp. The day I went, there was pouring rain, sun, and a hale storm.
