Zojoji

We had a very nice visit to the temple during our last trip. I don’t know if it was the particular day, but there were few visitors and I don’t see this place at the top of many must visit reviews of Tokyo so I have a feeling this temple is underrated. Land is very precious in Tokyo but this temple occupies such a large amount of space that it is surprising. Tokyo Tower is behind the temple and offers a nice contrast. Across the temple on the other side is a park. We saw a homeless person sleeping there and it was a grim reminder of the economic collapse. One of the temple grounds keepers was very friendly and joked to my mother that she should help clean up the bird poo he was scraping off. She started to help him and he was embarassed because it was just a joke. They talked for quite awhile.
