I stayed here at the YHA twice on the way to and from byron.

It’s a cool wooden building that extends up into the trees. If you stand on the balcony at night (or walk down to the river) you can see the bats flying over. a cat landed on my sister’s head through the window to the top bunk. people were friendly there and we talked to some. they have a wall full of photos of naked people.

The river is supposed to be a great place for kayaking/canoeing, and the YHA does night time boat trips.

We went to a market that sold yummy organic food.

the famous pianist featured in the movie Shine, David Helfgott lives here, as does current affairs etc. presenter, author, George Negus (I saw him at a cafe there :D).

Wish I had more time here.

but I found out this was the place they shot the background/scenery for the movie-Danny Deckchair. Which was a very lovely awesome movie. The people looked friendly and the town gorgeous. Definitely somewhere I’d like to be sometime!
