Apple crisp craving...  — 9 months ago

This cafe has the most delightful and decadent apple crisp. It is made with a shortbread type of crumble. It is like sex on a plate… no, correction, it is like GOOD sex on a plate!

Seriously, it’s on the busiest part of Whyte Avenue, and it’s got amazing gelato. You’d think that would be enough to keep it bustling from open ‘til close, but there’s almost always a free seat somewhere at Block 1912. (Only once have I never found a table.) The gelato, as has been said before, is great, and the other desserts are mighty nice as well. The menu and drinks are little overpriced, but if you’re looking for an afternoon snack or a good lunch on the Ave, Block 1912’s a good place to go.

The gelato alone is worth going for. I like this place because it’s right on the sort of coffee corner on Whyte, and it’s likely someone you know will drop in and you can enjoy each other. The service is not always superb, and it’s definitely a little overpriced, but you can sit and meditate over your tea for hours here. Good for deserts or lunch, just make sure they give you a potato roll and not a sausage one.
