I’d really like to visit the Western Isles, they just seem beautiful and interesting. I traveled in Scotland as a kid and loved it, and I’d like to come back and see the Western Isles and more :)

Also, according to genetics research done by DeCode Genetics 60% of the female settlers of Iceland were Celtic and were mainly from the Western Isles. Some 20% of the men were also not of Nordic blood. At the time of Icelandic settlement the Hebrides were under Norwegian control and many of the ships stopped in the isles on their way to more distant shores.

So I also feel I should get to know this area and learn about my Celtic heritage.

Gliding Through the Highlands and Islands! by DianeO

The drama of Scotland’s Hebrides (“islands at the edge of the sea”), created by earthquakes, volcanoes and retreating glaciers, is topped only by the floating-country-manor luxury of the Hebridean Princess.
