A tip I have about this place

The Tanners’ Arms, originally built to accommodate the builders of the church, has good real ale and food.

There is a legend that young “Mathy” Trewhella was lured away from civilization by a mermaid with a pretty voice. One day, according to legend, a ship weighed anchor nearby and a mermaid appeared and asked the captain to please pull up the anchor so that Mathew and the children could leave their home, so that they could go to church. Inside the church in the village of Zennor is a wood cut of a mermaid, based on this legend.

Since my grandfather was a Trewhella, this has become a sort of family legend ever since we heard about it (my family is from Australia). When the family went to Europe, Zennor was a destination. The wood cut was kind of ugly, but the country side was gorgeous. If I ever have kids I’ll have to take them.
