Moose Factory

I’ve been to Moose Factory on James Bay, in northern Ontario. We were told that we were lucky that it was raining while we were there, or else the mosquitos would have eaten us alive. The 6 hour ride on the “Polar Bear Express” train from Cochrane, Ontario was interesting. To get to Cochrane, we took the Northland railway from North Bay to Timmins, rode through beautiful farming country around New Liskheard and then took a bus 40 miles to Cochrane. I still remember that when we arrived in Cochrane around 7:00am on August 9, we could see our breath, it was so cold outside, in AUGUST! hmmm. In Moose Factory, we also visited the local Native Reserve and tried their homeade bread, “Bannock,” which was a sweet flat bread.
