After three years of closure for reconstruction the Utah State Capitol Building was reopened on January 4, 2008.
There is a huge open house. The public is invited to attend and most of the building is opened for viewing. Mrs. viii has volunteered to act as one of the many tour guides.
I went for a look-see. We were able to go inside all of the legislative chambers. Normally visitors are allowed access only via the visitor’s gallery, but during the open house visitors are allowed to walk onto the House and Senate floors and also gain access to the House and Senate Lounges. I was able to go into the Governor’s Office and the chambers of the State Supreme Court.
The building was closed in order to upgrade it in terms of seismic safety. During the closure the inside of the building was also refurbished.over 5 years ago
