Ninety Mile Beach is the 2nd longest beach in New Zealand. You can go sandboarding down the giant dunes – a great experience. I found the one-step-forward-three-steps-slide-back trek up to the top clutching a sandboard almost as big as myself incredibly hard going – but an exhilarating ride down.

The beach itself was beautiful – stretching out as far as the eye could see and with only our tour party in sight as we dug for shellfish.
