Hotel Des Arts

This was a great, cheap find. But with the thrifty value comes some noise tolerance, and letting go of super clean rooms or any amenities. I loved the location and on the over all it was a decent stay. BUT the rooms are very small and a bit dingy and it has a feel of a glorified hostel. Perhaps the suites are better; we stayed in a room without a bathroom, which never bothers us.

Our first room was painted a lovely hot pink, white and gold. It wasn’t the giant ejaculating phallic object across the back wall that made us change rooms, or the walls instructions to “Lick it up Bitch” but the industrial fan right outside that kicked on at 2 a.m. and NEVER stopped, that drove us to beg for another room. The fan wasn’t on when we checked in on Christmas, the business must have been closed. The staff was fairly gracious about it and gave us a new room, sans the porn-y walls and fan noise. The room was at times still very noisy, but nothing that ear plugs couldn’t handle.

All in all it was okay. Not great, not special, but safe and well located and dirt, dirt cheap.
