if you like music, just go and catch a show there
The Roxy is famous to locals but I think for others it’s overshadowed by the Viper Room and the Whisky. Next door is the famous Rainbow room where a lot go to hang out after shows. Anyway, I’ve been there several times over the years and they remodelled the inside but it’s still a great place to catch a show. It’s small which gives that intimate performance that I love. You can stand right against the stage—that’s what I love in a venue. The stagelights are intensely bright, which aids in taking photos without flash (even if you have a crappy camera like mine) if you are into that sort of thing.

Saw one of the greatest shows of my life here
My Bloody Valentine, February 1992. Hot, sweaty, overcrowded, ever so slightly crazed, and the music was like a huge rolling miasma of sound and chaos. Loved every minute of it, of course.
