Roxy Theatre

The Roxy is famous to locals but I think for others it’s overshadowed by the Viper Room and the Whiskey. Next door is the famous Rainbow room where a lot go to hang out after shows. Anyway, I’ve been there several times over the years and they remodelled the inside but it’s still a great place to catch a show. It’s small which gives that intimate performance that I love. You can stand right against the stage—that’s what I love in a venue. The stagelights are intensely bright, which aids in taking photos without flash (even if you have a crappy camera like mine) if you are into that sort of thing.

My Bloody Valentine, February 1992. Hot, sweaty, overcrowded, ever so slightly crazed, and the music was like a huge rolling miasma of sound and chaos. Loved every minute of it, of course.
