Sky Tower

If you been to any one city’s tall building, then you know what the Sky Tower is all about. However, that doesn’t make it any less valuable. The skyline wouldn’t be the same without it; it’s a landmark. The view from it is a spectacular cityscape, either night or day. I haven’t been to it’s rotating restaurant, but I hear it is good.

LOL, I won $112 and didn’t walk away…

There is a wonderful rotating restaurant at the top that isn’t terribly expensive by US standards. Best of all, if you eat at the restaurant, it’s free to go to the observation deck, which otherwise would cost (as I recall) about half the price of your meal.

everytime i go to the city, either by myself or with family or with friends, or with anyone, i always make sure i at least pass by or get a good peek of the sky tower. it is a symbol of auckland city for me! and its such a great place to experience kiwi nightlife! eversince i first visited this place, i have always loved the atmosphere and the great visitor/tourist friendly shops! plus the people in auckland are great!

We had been staying outside of Auckland with family and had booked a three day trip up to the Bay of Islands. We had to stay in Auckland due to an early departure time so we decided to go all-out and stay at Sky City.

We thought it was pretty cool! It was fun going up to the top of the tower- I got such a case of vertigo, especially where they have the windows that look straight down! (I’m attaching a picture of my kids standing on the glass floor, although it’s hard to see.) The kids liked swimming in the rooftop pool. It was more expensive than the other hotels in the area, but it was worth it for a night, even if just for the novelty value.
