Why I recommend this place to locals

They’re open 24/7, which is a handy thing for a bagel place to be. I tend to stop by around 3am, with a frequency which varies between a couple times a week and every few months, and the staff is always very friendly.

I like the sign in the window which informs passers-by that H&H Midtown Bagels East is not affiliated with H&H Bagels, or something to that effect.
