Worth visiting!

I went to Cafe Stellina’s open house last week. I was late so there were only 2 appetizers left to try, but both were pretty good. I don’t know if they’re actually open yet, but I do want to give it a try for dinner.

Apparently, La Spiga and Cafe Stellina are going to be neighbors. I heard La Spiga moves in September, apparently, Stellina moves sometime this month.

A rumor about this place  — 2 years ago

The original rumor was that Osteria La Spiga was moving into this wonderfully renovated/converted garage space on 12th & Pike (looks like they’re almost finished with construction). However, a look at the posted liquor application points to Cafe Stellina moving into the place and transferring their liquor license in the process. Which could mean a few things:

1) Osteria La Spiga is staying put
2) Cafe Stellina is becoming more than a coffee/tea/pasterie joint—a full blown restaurant is a big jump
3) Cafe Stellina on Union is closing? I say this only because the liquor application is a transfer, not a new license.

Anybody know what’s up? Whatever happens, it’s going to be an exciting addition to the 12th & Pike hub. The building looks gorgeous. I personally hope that #2 is not true as I Cafe Stellina is a great Central District coffee house and close to my house.
