A review of this place: Simply exquisite  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Licorous is a place to indulge your palate and your senses. It is for the sybarite we all have within. The food here is meant to be savored in adagio ;)

I highly recommend the tuna, which is such a delicacy it almost disolves in one’s mouth. Absolutely delectable.

This is an adult bar with nice design touches. Not a pub experience – more of a refined drink outing destination. The drinks were delicious and very stiff. I recommend the Prickly Pear.

The first time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Stopped by for a cocktail (after dropping $250 for dinner at Cremant—OUCH). Like the chill warm ambiance, very appealing interior design elements. I had a specialty drink—a Something Royale ($8.50) which was a variation on a Manhattan. The place just opened last weekend and had mostly restraurant industry folks there last night. Good mix, good energy. Could fill up and feel crowded very quickly…

This place is all about style and atmosphere …and food …and drinks. Does them all well; go with friends and enjoy.

Drink Selection: The cocktail menu is just exciting enough to not be intimidating or silly. There was some sort of rhubarb vodka martini that I had never heard of. They were out of the vodka when I went. Some one please comment on the drink when you get it.

Plus for an extra $2 you can get a ‘food pairing’ (their italics, not mine.) Just go ahead and ‘pair’, it is a deal.

Food: ...at that point in the night everything tasted good.

    Price: Worth it.

A rumor about this place  — 1 year ago

This place is on the verge of opening. I just called Lark and they’ve informed me that Licorous is opening tonight at 6pm. Let’s go!

Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I looked in yesterday, it is looking mighty mighty nice. tons of light wood finishes and good lighting. seems like a place one could go for drinks with company; have a great time smiling and talking with no worries. a separate peace if you will.

i look forward to the new capitol hill bar entry.

A bar/restaurant being opened next door to Lark by the same owner/operators. I was lucky enough to poke my head into the new space. It was all sheetrock when I looked in last week, but it has a promising look to it. One of the owners was around and told us that it will be called “Licorice”. My impression was that it would not be an overflow for Lark, but a separate joint with it’s own feel—perhaps more focused on drinks. But I’m told that you’ll be able to eat dinner at Licorice with similar tapas-style servings as Lark. This should be another great addition to the neighborhood.
