Wakullla Springs

Wakulla Springs is truly a wonderful place to visit. Entrance to the park is $4 a car and their are jungle cruises through the swamp. Although calling it a swamp is a little misleading since the water is crystal clear. They have glass bottom boat tours on days when the water is at its clearest (call ahead).

Even on bad days the jungle cruise runs, we saw dozens of alligators, herons, egrets, anhingas, turtles, pikes, gars, wood ducks, osprey nests, and lots of other fish and wildlife. The cruise guides are really good about getting the boats in close and keeping them steady so that you can get great pictures. The boats are small enough so that you can ask questions and move around.

I live about 5 miles from here and have spent many hours. The jungle cruise is GREAT! and water is VERY cold. You are swimming with the gators/snakes and bugs, but there are enought kids noise to keep them away. In the summer, get there early to avoid the summer camps.
The resteraunt is very good and they have a snack bar for icecream.
