Great Wall aka: 长城

The second time I visited the great wall – this time to Jinshanling, a much cleaner, easier area than Badaling (which I’d seen in 2006). While there was a long bus ride, and some hassle in the form of hawkers who attached themselves to us for the duration of our hike along the wall, it was a beautiful day – and an impressive stretch of wall to have explored. Highly recommended!

I went to The Great Wall of China in 2002 with the ‘Little Belgian’ and ‘Lalake’. Everytime I think of this place, I think of the great people who built it and the mammoth of a job they did is awesome! It’s an ultimate experience and one to remember!

Rather than going to the more crowded Badaling section, you may want to check out the other sections. I went to Mutianyu and had a wonderful time. It’s a lot of walking, but the experience and views are quite breath taking. Definitely recommended.

I have been in Beijing for several years, but I have not seen this great place. I will go there 3 months later.

I didn’t like Badaling so much I far preferred other more natural portions of the wall. Badaling is really touristy you just climb up and then back down. It takes like ten min but you can get certificates stating that you’ve climbed the wall to make yourself look cool. On other parts of the wall you can spend the day hiking around. The vistas are amazing when you have walked for a bit. Well worth it!
