Worth visiting!

goodness

I went to the Red Dog Cafe on a Saturday evening after seeing the exec chef prepare some asparagus frittatas at the Silver Spring farmer’s market that morning (they were okay – I was more impressed with the menu than the frittatas, really). When the GF came down with a hankering for some ribs, I suggested we go there instead of our usual rib destination, Urban Bar-B-Que.

Located at the corner of Grubb and Washington in the Rock Creek Shopping Center, it is a quick drive from downtown Silver Spring. It has some outdoor seating (under a tent) and a nice garage-door front to let in the night air. The menu is basically Italian-fused barbecue, with a big hearth oven for making cedar-plank fish, ribs and pizza. As for the Cafe, they had a good selection of juices and coffee beverages. The ribs were tasty, but didn’t knock out the current favorite. The winner of the meal was definitely the Mac and Cheese. The desserts all looked good, and our brownie sundae was served with a nice, hot melty brownie. I doubt I’ll return anytime soon, but it was nice to go someplace a little more residential than the rest of the places I go in Silver Spring.
