Isle Of Barra

well i could tell you plenty of stories about barra it is where i live and the most amazing place in the world! we are swarmed with bloody tourists these days hahaha! itz not only for olf people who want to enjoy the beautifull place the beaches and dances are great for young people like maself! also we are having a barra live this year yaaay! this is a big festival where their is a big marquee tent ptched next to a beach and every1 goes and drinks and dances the night away! u wont find a better party in the world and it is impossible to explain! so wether u are looking for sum great fresh air and time away from the city or some crazy beach parties barra is the place to be!!!

It’s not too big to FEEL like an island! Moreover it rivals Inverie on the mainland for the most friendly place I’ve ever been.

first thing you see on the ferry ride into castlebay is the Kiessmul Castle sitting in the middle of the bay, seemingly built straight out of the water. it’s quite a site to see. :)

the locals that i met were possibly some the nicest people on the outer hebrides and it was marvelous to hear the local scottish gaelic dialect in common use.

barra doesn’t have the soaring craggy slopes and hillsides that you might see on other Scottish Isles, such as Harris, Lewis, or Skye, but it does have gentle rolling hills and lovely seascapes. if you happen to arrive on a foggy day, you might want to wait around a few days, otherwise you’ll miss out!
