Jinotega

La Perrera, the doghouse, is 3 KM South of Jinotega on the road to Matagalpa, the nearest main town. Buses pass each direction every 30 mnutes from 5AM to 6PM either from the main bus terminal in Matagalpa or from COTRAN Sur in Jinotega. La Perrera is on 3 floors and has hotel quality rooms to rent at very affordable rates. There are magnificent views over the valley approach to the city of Jinotega from the upper floor. The food is excellent and they encourage you to order items not listed on the menu. The owner has 2 farms nearby so they can get almost anything you ask for fairly easily. Vegetarian meals are available on request. This is an exclusively Spanish speaking restaurant but the owners, Amanda and Jorge, both speak clearly, slowly and use simple words.
