Cafe Des Deux Moulins

i wandered into this cafe one morning on my way to the montmartre cemetery… its very close to the moulin rouge gift shop (which oddly is around the corner from the moulin rouge, and has completely different hours).

this cafe is more of a diner…its awesome. i had the chevre salad (which i highly recommend).

I’m sorry I only visited it on my last day in Paris. I wasn’t hungry so I only got a coffee, but the food looked really good so I will just have to back and try it next time! I sat outside, which is fine if you don’t mind the tourist trams going by with everyone taking pictures of the cafe (and therefore you).

i happened to wander upon the cafe in one of my many rambles through montmartre. honestly this was one of the better meals i had in the city, (relatively cheap) they let me sit in there for hours and read. had a great conversation with one of the waitresses in french about tattoos. – but for the amelie fans – the interior is compeltely changed. the tabac is gone, the booths have changed, etc… but it’s still very cool. there is a huge signed (by audrey tautou) poster in the back.

One of the key locations from “Amelie” and is mostly recognisable from the movie – there have been one or two minor changes since it was filmed. (Most sadly, the tabac ! The owners must’ve been getting fed up with the number of photos being taken). The WC was still in situ the last time I was there, though…

For those who haven’t been yet, it’s easy enough to find – the cafe’s only about 15 seconds from the front door of the Moulin Rouge !

Very cozy french cafe, it’s kind of dirty though. If you’re a fan you don’t care, but the board where she writes the day’s special is not there.
